Sebasticook Valley Hospital Vice President of Clinical Services Michael Peterson has announced that the hospital’s laboratory director, Billie-Jo Sickler, has been awarded a full scholarship to the Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Management Program to be held at the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business next week in South Bend, Indiana. Ms. Sickler was one of only twenty healthcare managers chosen nationwide to participate in this healthcare management program.
Peterson shared, “It is a tremendous honor for Billie-Jo to be chosen to participate in this intensive five-day executive management program. Billie-Jo is the only healthcare professional from Maine to be selected and one of very few chosen from the entire nation. It is a testament to her excellent services at SVH as a manager and clinician. Since Billie-Jo took over the reins at SVH’s laboratory manager in May of 2007, we have added four additional Lab Draw Station sites in the region. The lab volume continues to grow as Billie-Jo and her team seek provide excellent customer service to both patients and the medical community.”
Ms. Sickler will participate in the weeklong, 12-hour day workshops dealing with strategy, leadership responsibility, financial analysis, and performance management. According to the American Association of Clinical Chemistry, of which Ms. Sickler is a member, this course is “designed to provide clinical laboratorians with a core base of key business skills.” Ms. Sickler received the scholarship via the Clinical Laboratory Management Association, a national professional group based in Wayne, Pennsylvania.
Prior to SVH, Ms. Sickler had clinical experience at both Affiliated Laboratory in Bangor and in a medical office environment. She was promoted from membership in the SVH Lab Team to SVH Lab Director in 2007. |
