Mammography & Ultrasound Services

Sebasticook Valley Hospital Women's Center Mammography Service is approved for quality by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and is accredited by the American College of Radiology. Our staff of professional imaging specialists strive to ensure your mammography or ultrasound experience is as comfortable as possible.

Diagnostic Bone Density Screenings

SVH offers painless diagnostic bone density screenings to measure bone mass for early detection of osteoporosis. From a simple hand screening to a full body scan, SVH can provide you and your physician with the information needed to determine if treatment is needed to protect your bones.

Lymphedema Care

We offer non-invasive massage therapy for women with swelling due to abnormal accumulation of lymph fluid – a common side-effect of breast surgery or radiation therapy.

Prosthetics Service

Our Prosthetics Service is for women of all ages who live with mishapened breasts due to surgery or birth defects. We offer lifelike breast forms that adhere directly to the skin and forms that fit discreetly into undergarments. We also carry a selection of bathing suits and exercise clothing designed to hold breast prostheses comfortably and securely in place. Our Prosthetics Coordinator is a certified prosthetics fitter who can provide personalized service as well as information regarding the latest innovations and advances in breast prosthetics.

Stereotactic Breast Biopsy

Stereotactic breast biopsy is an alternative to surgery for women with abnormalities discovered during routine mammograms. This procedure provides women with a faster, and less invasive way to remove a portion of breast tissue for testing.

Stereotactic breast biopsy is performed as an outpatient procedure, and recovery time is approximately 24 hours - with much less discomfort and no significant changes to the breast. It's a convenient alternative to biopsy surgery.
